United States Title Match
Sheamus vs. Cesaro

Sheamus surprises his opponent by actually locking up and chain wrestling him. It eventually breaks down as he gets slapped in the face, and the brawling starts in. They trade punches and kicks and knees and everything else they can, until both of them go over the top rope. Cesaro gets back in the ring first, and Sheamus does his battering ram move over the ropes. Irish whip to the corner, but Sheamus actually skins the cat to the top rope, only to get uppercut all the way to the floor.

Cesaro puts on a rest hold, Sheamus counters into his own headlock, Cesaro reverses with a suplex. The champ fires up with a few ax handles, but Cesaro turns him upside-down with a lariat. After a few minutes, Sheamus tries for his Ten Beats, but Cesaro uppercuts him and they fight to the top turnbuckle. The challenger ends up crashing to the floor with a sit-down toss, and Sheamus sets up for the Brogue Kick, only to get caught by a huge uppercut. They brawl back and forth with elbows but nobody is going down. Another Brogue Kick attempt, but Cesaro with a roll-up counter. Looks like he tries for the Neutralizer, but settles for a powerbomb instead. Yet another Brogue attempt – yet another powerslam counter. It’s time to trade standing uppercuts and Sheamus ends up taking a beating, then comes back and asks for more! Cesaro responds with a big boot and starts throwing punches, but the referee backs him off and Sheamus comes out of the corner with a Brogue Kick for the win.

Winners: Sheamus

Cesaro & The Miz (w/ Damien Sandow) vs. Dolph Ziggler & Sheamus

Cesaro and Ziggler started and worked some chain wrestling. Cesaro used his power to take an early advantage and mocked Ziggler after a shoulder block. Cesaro reversed a sunset flip attempt into a press slam attempt, which Ziggler slipped out of and hit a drop kick. Cesaro used a Miz distraction to recover and hit a backbreaker. The Miz tagged in and went to work on Ziggler. Miz and Ziggler went back and forth for a bit, until Miz hit a neckbreaker and played to the camera.

Miz hit a double axehandle off the top on Ziggler and applied a chin lock. Ziggler fought out of the hold and Miz tagged Cesaro. He ran in and was able to prevent the tag to Sheamus. Miz reversed a press uppercut attempt into a DDT, and both teams made a tag. Sheamus came in and cleaned house. He hit chest clubs on Miz and a forward roll slam for a near fall. Miz charged at Sheamus and ate an irish curse backbreaker. Distractions everywhere as R-Ziggler and Damien Mizdow got involved. The match ended when Ziggler snuck back in from the outside to hit a superkick while the ref was clearing the interference. Sheamus hit a brogue kick and got the three count.

Winners: Dolph Ziggler & Sheamus

Night of Champions 2014 predictions Sep 19th,2014

20140825_LIGHT_NOC_Match_HOMEPAGE_sheamus-cesaro_logo bJoey Styles: What’s not to like about watching two throwback grapplers beat each other up? I think Sheamus and Cesaro would fight each other for free and then each pay $9.99 to watch the replay of Night of Champions on WWE Network. I don’t know which is more devastating, Sheamus’ Brogue Kick or Cesaro’s Very European Uppercut. I do know that the Brogue Kick can be unleashed more readily and for that reason alone, I’m picking the Irishman to beat the Swissman for the United States Championship. WINNER: Sheamus

Howard Finkel: This contest is, in effect, a rematch from WWE Payback, where the Irishman emerged victorious. These two Superstars know each other very well, and I believe this bout is going to be another closely contested affair. This time I envision Cesaro emerging victorious, thus beginning his second reign as United States Champion. WINNER: Cesaro

Scott Taylor: Sheamus and Cesaro are two of the most evenly matched Superstars in WWE. Both men are hard-hitting-heavyweights with main event-level talent to boot. I’ve been impressed with The Swiss Superman’s recent run of success, but I don’t think it’s his time just yet. This is going to be a flat-out fight and you know The Celtic Warrior loves a good fight. WINNER: Sheamus

James Wortman: This is a tough one. On the one hand, both Sheamus and Cesaro are proven juggernauts, each utilizing a brawling style that’s complemented by some ring-shaking power moves. Yet, as we witnessed on this week’s Raw, The Swiss Superman will have no problem hitting The Celtic Warrior with his formidable Neutralizer, the move that won Cesaro his first United States Championship in the SummerSlam 2012 Kickoff Match. If The King of Swing stuns Sheamus with that maneuver at Night of Champions, it’ll be all over, fella. WINNER: Cesaro

John Clapp: I could watch these two throwing hands all day, and smart money says this is the dark-horse candidate for Match of the Night (of Champions). Before earning No. 1 Contender status, it looked like Cesaro’s star was falling. Because of that, I suspect The Swiss Superman will stop at nothing to reassert himself and regain prominence and the U.S. Title. WINNER: Cesaro

Cesaro: 3, Sheamus: 2
